Acorus calamus - Calamus Root (Sweetflag)
Roots of this wetland plant have been chewed by Native Americans as a stimulant, and a cough and cold remedy.
In folk medicine it has been indicated as a stomach tonic. The fragrant root was also once used to flavor beer, and to this day it's used in perfumes.
